
Geographical Characteristics 
The Iiyama Line runs along the Chikuma River (Shinano River), Japan’s longest river, offering passengers views of the river’s powerful flow and lush green landscapes from the train windows.
In winter, however, heavy snowfall blankets the area, transforming it into a vast silver world.
Furthermore, there are many unmanned stations within small settlements along the Iiyama Line, making it a route that takes you to Japan’s hidden gems.

Sightseeing Train “OYKOT”
The “OYKOT” is a sightsseing train running on the Iiyama Line that offers a special experience where passengers can enjoy local culture and scenery.
Based on the concept of the “Hometown of the Japanese Heart,” the train’s interior is modelled after traditional Japanese homes. Here, you can savor regional cuisine and enjoy heart-warming hospitality, which includes local traditional dance performances*.

Cycle Train
The Iiyama Line implemented the ‘Cycle Train’ service, which allows bikes to be transported as they are without dismantling.
This service aims to support visitors who wish to explore the beautiful scenery along the Iiyama Line by bicycle.
Visitors can easily customize their itineraries by combining local tourist spots along the Iiyama Line with existing cycling routes.
